Creating an inclusive green space for Elders at Sherbrooke

Sherbrooke Foundation welcomed American Rental Association Foundation (ARA) to Saskatoon for a large-scale community impact project on September 10, 2025.

Saskatoon ARA member Hub City Display nominated Sherbrooke Foundation for the green space redevelopment. ARA includes both American and Canadian business members and has a big heart for community. Toro Company Foundation, Ditch Witch, The Rent-it Store, Rent Quip, and Earthworks Equipment, United Rentals, Sunbelt Rentals, and Core Rental Services were also involved.

ARA supports charities across the continent, providing funding, machinery, and labour for single-day projects. The Saskatoon partnership included a grant of $20,000 USD and contributions of equipment and skilled workers.

At Sherbrooke Community Centre, the ARA project expanded and rejuvenated the green space between Veterans Village and Kinsmen Village. It created an inclusive space for Elders to enjoy daily visits, social gatherings and entertainment.

ARA, the Toro Company Foundation, and local members provided 20 skilled workers, and Sherbrooke provided an additional 20 staff volunteers. The project included decorative metal fencing, wider pathways for accessibility, and extensive landscaping work.
